My presentation on nudging in instructional design was presented at the 2022 OLC Innovate Conference in Dallas, TX.
This is a short (and somewhat embarrassing, but instructively useful) post that reflects on a recent development in my work designing online courses... and shows how easy it is to assume that something is "obvious" (when it's not).
Online discussions in some ways they are better than traditional face-to-face synchronous discussions. They are more equitable, giving everyone time to think, and leveling the playing field for intro- and extroverts (who are always guaranteed to win in face-to-face discussions!).
